STAINED and PAINTED GLASS

A room with several windows that have been stained glass.

Stained glass is a wonderful art form that embraces old-world tradition as well as bold contemporary styles. Even within the traditional format, there is room for modern innovations. Combining traditional stained glass assembly techniques with hypercontemporary styling provides for some exciting contradictions. One innovation that we began over 40 years ago was the practice of sealing a stained glass window inside of a hermetically sealed insulating unit. This provides the usual thermal barrier while making your stained glass 100 percent maintenance-free. Another strategy that has a lot of potential is painting on glass. In a way, the glass becomes your canvas and frame simultaneously. It also creates the most perfect glazing which is a perfectly flat and stunningly glossy finish. The pigments we use are very hard and bond very well to the glass. Painted glass provides for some very innovative strategies.
